Uncle Matt’s Hats logo animations
Starting our journey after meeting the team behind Uncle Matt’s Hats, we explored how animation could bring their mental health characters to life. By animating the personalities featured inside the hats, the content became more engaging, versatile, and ideal for social media use across multiple campaigns.
With video and animation consistently outperforming static imagery for engagement and reach, the result was content designed to stop the scroll.
(below) A selection of the characters
I began with rough character animations from the clients Adobe Illustrator files to establish the direction and gather client feedback. Once approved, I refined and polished the motion, cleaning up overlaps and artefacts to create a smooth, flawless final animation.
(1st pass) Client feedback was that the character was too bouncy, with long limbs.
(2nd pass) Client feedback was to tone down the double bounce on the brain.
(Final pass) Client feedback was happy with this animation.
This process was completed for 7 different assets in total. These were then delivered in different formats including the characters on an alpha channel so that they could be laid over different backgrounds and media.

Final deliverable for “Waitress”
Final deliverable for “Low Battery”
Final deliverable for “Brainy”
The final animations gave Uncle Matt’s Hats a versatile set of branded assets for social media, presentations, and pitch decks — transforming static characters into engaging brand personalities.
Animated logos and mascots naturally attract more attention than still imagery, helping brands increase engagement, boost memorability, and build a stronger connection with their audience.
